This year the semifinals are 50/50. Maybe the diaspora votes and bad songs won't pass. Eurovision need good songs.

Laila
I agree, but the information was made clearer this year. Last year I got it all wrong :S

@Stockholm calling
I disagree. They said so much wrong and Svante interrupted and "stole" the host Peter's job... He was reduced into saying the names of the countries only in the end, lol. Also, there was no star factor, no elegance or anything at all. I would have hoped they continued the "trend" Russia did when Dima was part of the show and let Rybak draw the countries... Instead they got a policeman to do it? Come on... :(

Laila
I think this draw was much better than the one last year :)

ps: Ik vind het jammer dat we met zo een kermisbagger moeten gaan.. er is geen hoop ..bah!

Gewoon plat op de bek gaan in Oslo, en dan hopen op beter. :P

I think it's a bit naive to say that you can't predict anything yet, we've had this 50/50 system in ESC in the final already, and in JESC and honestly some juries have the same bias as the people (*cough* Cypriot & Greek for example *cough*) And a 0 pointer from a jury to a diaspora country, will result into an 8 pointer in the end.. although now we can divide our diaspora votes again between Armenia and Turkey..

Sweden are never safe, in east europe people dosent like our songs, we got 6 points from UK in the semis :P and Charlotte perellis song was very bad last year.
For me Sweden is very lucky to have been in ALL fianls every year... maybe this will be the first year we wont pass ? Though This first semi final i nsweden was the best semi EVER ! :)

And how amateur was this draw show??? :S

@ Thorazin Corazon

I'd rather have fairness.

But offcourse the best songs should qualify. A western song doesn't deserve to qualify if it's not one of the best, but this goes equally for others aswell and unfortunately with loads of diaspora you can be saved no matter your entry.

Gosh, this year is just SO BAD for Eurovision! Horrible!
All the best songs and most promising to me ae int he semi we can't vote in. Instead we can vote in the semi where Denmark and Sweden is which means we will give them high points LIKE ALWAYS! And Denmark is so mediocre this year that it's not good! Don't know about Sweden yet, but if we give them another 12 pointer then they definitely have to return the favour seeing as our song is half theirs! :@

All the ones that are VERY promising to ME are in the first; Macedonia, Serbia, Finland, Bosnia, Belgium, Poland, Moldova, Slovakia... :(
It's only good that Iceland isn't in the second so hopefully that crap won't qualify.

And now we know who gets the 12 points from Turkey and Azerbaijan. No surprise there.

Hopefully Croatia will choose one of the many songs I liked from them so that I can vote for them at least...

@ Patte Linouuuu

And the UK usually gives us 12p? As a matter of fact I think we got 0 from UK last year even.

We don't have major disapora groups. Compare that to Turkish or Greek diaspora and you'll see.

Also some diaspoa groups doesn't care as much as others.

I think we got an ok draw (except for starting in first half) and I haven't really complained about our draw either. But I wouldn't call us safe though...

But some countries are for sure safe.

"The problem with diaspora voting is that countries qualify no matter if they have good or bad songs. Diaspora doesn't vote for song, they vote for country.

Well if they're always going to qualify, what does it matter if they're in the same semi? OK, it's not ideal that certain countries do well (or can do well) with bad songs, but it's the way it is and in all fairness, i'd rather Azerbaijan had the spot in the final than some Western country who doesn't really care, at least Azerbaijan really want to do well.

@new in town

belive me...when there is no other nordic countries sweden will give 12 points to denamrk and denmark 12 points to sweden...no doubt about it at all. The reason that they dont give eachother always 12 points is becasue of that we have norway or iceland...see the statistic...nordic countries almost always gives 12 points to another nordic country....im not complaining...i live in sweden and i have always sweden as favo because for the most of the years we send the songs that i vote for...except last year and the year before when sanna should have won. The point is there is always more then two countries that are involved in giving points to eachother...and there is only to semifinals so u cant split it 100%...bet this is as fair as it can get..

Thnx everybody .. bye~

I am not sure xD I think Sweden got a good semi too xD you know that there are like 100.000 people in Uk and like 15.000 in Spain ? and like 10.000 in denmark and like 230.000 swedes in finland and 70.000 in norway right ? xD

New in Town [60047]
Sun 7 Feb 2010 14:49:09

@ Thorazin Corazon

The problem with diaspora voting is that countries qualify no matter if they have good or bad songs. Diaspora doesn't vote for song, they vote for country.

Azerbaijan qualified with a really bad song already, and Turkey has qualified with unworthy songs at times aswell.

I think first semi is much stronger than second. My favourites:
-in 1.semi:FINLAND,RUSSIA,GREECE,I CELAND,MALTA,PORTUGAL,POLAND,
2.semi:TURKEY,IRELAND,SWEDEN,U KRAINE,AZERBEIJAN,ISRAEL.
But we don't know anything about many songs,so everything can change.
