Public song selection

It's official: Harel Skaat to Oslo

The news appearing a couple of days ago on the Israeli news website nrg.co.il have finally taken shape. The Israeli public broadcaster IBA has officially confirmed today that their representative at Eurovision 2010 will be Harel Skaat. The song that Harel will perform in Oslo will be selected out of four through the show Kdam Eurovision.

An internal panel of IBA have agreed that the song selection process will be televised on Reshet, an operator of Channel 2. The show, called as usual Kdam Eurovision, will feature four songs, out of which the public will decide the one to represent the nation in Oslo.

I agree with those saying the guy has potential. But he does need a song as well. Even though many of you dont agreed on the two last winners, both songs have had something to them. ONLY being a good singer is not enought - not to win and to for a top 5.

I don't know why, but I think that this time we will have a duo or female winer, as 2008 handsome guy Dima Bilan got victory with a song which was far away not the best, 2009 Rybak again handsome guy, got victory with a song which was far away not the best. This guy looks nice, but i don't think that story will repeat for 3th time! At least i hope that the song won't be awful!

Good luck ISRAEL- Pleas send a good song!

Very good choice. Good luck for the next year, Israel !

Well, now all four artists known so far for Oslo 2010 are male soloists.

Good choice! :) He has the potential to win the contest but you know all depends the song. I hope he will sing a rock song in English. Good luck :)

I heard his music some years ago. He impressed me. and yes - he is very handsome. That should give him some extra votes, but I also agree with some people here that say that the song must be great for him to proceed to the final. It's tough no matter how you look at it. I wish him the best.

p.s. to all those who are debating about his tendencies - who cares??? he is a good singer; that what's important. but on a side note: my Israeli friends are telling me he is dating at the moment a famous 'big brother' celeb, a good looking chap called zabar (?) or tzabar ? anyways, that's not the issue here.

Good luck Israel - bring a good song!

handsome man, muscles and flesh, sexy outfits, a typical euro tune, some peace crap lyrics, a formula which does not work anymore, he would be lucky to be at top 10 only.

Even if he is such a great voice(as you all say) we all have to wait for the song to judge..imagine for example Alicia keys singing Bad Romance....great talent with a hit song, but no one would like this compination!!lol
The songs have to fit to their singers not only be good...
As for the looks,he is nth special (at least for me) but it does not matter because this is ESC not Next Top model..:-)
And please not a political song...it is a music competition not United Nations!

@ Zohar...look at IBA website, they confirmed it!

@ Michael - I don't think he will sing a political song...he said he won't do that as I understood...but let's wait! it's a national selection with 4 songs, I can't see all of them political songs!

What is the source that confirmed this news ???? This article does not mention who confoirmed this. There has been no official announcment that Sqa'at was chosen. The contract had not been signed, or agreed upon ! Ofcoarse everybody knows that it will be Sqa'at, as everybody already said they agree, but iys not signed and conmfirmed as they con not come up with a contract yet. (this will probably be done on Monday when the lawyers or managers or whatever meet again).

Let's ofcoarse wait for the song before we judge, but we do have a good start with a singer that will appeal all over the continent

@ Hektor Sgargapises

Oh no, please no more English. Hebrew is a beautiful and unique language. At MOST 30-50% English like when Shiri and Boaz sang, but not majority.

Great choice! I hope for Israel that the song will be in English. Israel's songs were above average the last few years and I think they have been unterrated much. If politics will play a role this year like in 2003 (UK 0 points), Israel might get underrated again, since the UN has threatened Israel with an economic embargo and also Turkey can expect null points from Israel thanks to prime-minister Erdogan. Let's hope for the best and we will see what will happen..
