Armenia accuses Azerbaijan of voting manipulation

Armenian broadcaster APT accusses the broadcaster of the neighbouring country Azerbaijan to have manipulated the voting during the final of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest by obscuring the screen when the Armenian televoting number was shown. Political relations between the two countries have been tense for more than 20 years.

APT launched an official complaint to the EBU claiming a severe violation of the Eurovision Song Contest rules. Like in 2008, Azerbaijan gave no points to Armenia. However, even if Azerbaijan had given 12 points to Armenia, the country would have still finished in tenth place behind Bosnia & Herzegovina. Armenia gave one single point to the representatives from Azerbaijan, AySel & Arash, who finished third.

The EBU has stated that they cannot comment on the story yet as they have no proof of the accusations so far. However, they are investigating and will report about the outcome in the next two days.

Armenia took part in the Eurovision Song Contest for the fourth time in 2008 and achieved its fourth top ten placing in a row, although the tenth place for Inga & Anush with Nor par is still the lowest result to date.

If any Azerbaijanian will accuse Norway you`ll read it English, on ectoday.com, or on eurovision.tv, but not in Russian

Whoever understands Russian can see what kind of "invitation" is that with words "Norwegian song was written by an Azeri composer". You better invite people to visit Baku, the dirtiest city in the world according to Mercer Agency Human Development Report. If you want tpo increase the number of tourists visiting "the land of fire" by including Irani monuments in the reels or calling Norwegian and Armenian music your own, then please do it in a smarter: people reading this site were not born yesterday.

You say that "Azerbaijan accuse Norway of stealing Fairytale"
This is lie. In that article - Azer Kerimoglu, reader of vesti.az, invites to listen similarity in one part of famous comedy. Do you understand, such narrow minded man?

@Cirtdan,

I do understand some Russian and I know what I am talking about. You Azeris are waste of time. There is nothing else I can tell you. It would be good if some provocative nations get banned from participating at ESC. Your allegations are outragious and provocative indeed. Norway should officially protest. There is no excuse for what I am reading in your stupid newspapers.

Was Eastern Anatolia The Original Homeland Of The Armenians ?

Even Armenian historians disagree on this question. Let us examine some of their contradictory theories while looking into Anatolian history.

1. The Biblical Noah Theory. According to this idea, the Armenians descended from Hayk, great-great grandson of the Biblical patriarch Noah. Since Noah's Arc is supposed to have come to rest on Mount Ararat, the advocates of this idea conclude that eastern Anatolia must have been the original Armenian homeland, adding that Hayk lived some four hundred years and expanded his dominion as far as Babylon. This claim is based entirely on fables, not on any scientific evidence, and is not worthy of further consideration. The historian Auguste Carriere summarily dismisses it stating that "it depends entirely on information provided by some Armenian historians, most of which was made up."(1)

2. The Urartu Theory. Some Armenians claim that they were the people of Urartu, which existed in eastern Anatolia starting about 3000 B.C. until it was defeated and destroyed by the Medes, with its territory being contested for some time by Lydia and the Medes until it finally fell under the influence of the latter. This claim has no basis in fact. No form of the name Armenian is found in any inscription in Anatolia dating from that period, nor was there any Similarity at all between the Armenian language and that of Urartu, the former being a member of the Satem group oflndo European languages, while the latter was similar to the Ural-Altaic languages. Nor were there any similarities between their cultures. The most recent archaeological finds in the area of Erzurum support these conclusions very clearly. There is, therefore, absolutely no evidence at all to support the claim that the people of Urartu were Armenian.

3. The Thracian-Phrygian Theory. The theory most favored by Armenian historians claims that they descended from a Thracian-Phrygian group, that originated in the Balkan Peninsula and by the pressure oflllyrians migrated to eastern Anatolia in the sixth century B.C. This theory is based on the fact that the name Armenian was mentioned for the first time in the Behistan inscription of the Mede (Persian) Emperor Darius from the year 521 B.C., "l defeated the Armenians." If accepted, of course, this view effectively contradicts and disproves the Noah and Urartu theories.

4. The Southern Caucasus Theory. This idea claims that the Armenians are related racially and culturally to the peoples of the Southern Caucasus and that, therefore, they originated there. it is, however, supported only by the fact that Darius defeated the Armenians in the Caucasus. The Armenians are in no way related to any of the Caucasian races.

5. The Turanian Theory. Some Armenians have adduced similarities of certain elements of the Armenian language and culture with those of some Turkish and Azeri tribes of the Caucasus to document a relationship, but this remains to be proved.

Whichever, if any, of these theories is correct, it is very certain that the Armenians did not originate in Anatolia, nor did they live there for three to four thousand years, as claimed. They have put forward these ideas merely to support their claims that the Turks drove them out of a homeland in which they have lived for thousands of years, but they can not stand up to the facts.

Friends :) sometimes may lie ;) , this is not a reason to call nation bad. Or maybe you are thick nationalist too. Becouse you speak like armeni :) , sorry.

Azeris sound so ridiculous. I learned from some friends in Azerbaijan that they now accuse Norway of stealing Fairytale from one of their 100 years old musical comedy...Such narrow minded people. First they protested why Armenia had an armenian monument which is located in Nagorno Karabakh in his reel, while they included Irani monument in their own, and now they accuse Armenia and Norway of plagiat when they indeed copies the beginning of Sting's Shape of My Heart in their entry Always. Get a life, Azeri friends and do not harm the spirit of ESC.

It`s not necessary to answer to you, but I write becouse you are need in help and more armeni think like you

1. There was not Christianity in 3000 years ago. Does it means that you are not armenis and you lie?!

2. We are proud of to be, as you say, Tatars, Turks, or Mongols, to seem like Ozbeks, Kazaks, Turkmens, but not like armenis.
We love all nations, but not nationalist armenis. You must know that it will kill you

3. We love Asia as Europe. And modern Azerbaijan is in Europe, but more than 40 million of us live in Iran

4. You cannot find any Italy, Germany, Frans or Russia on the walls of Rome. But there is Atropaten, as you call it Aturpatakan.
And Karagoyunlu, Akgoyunlu, Shirvanshah, Kizilbashlar and ect..

azerbayjan has copied SIRUSHO'S entery! Aysel was just a copy of sirusho and in the same format! LAst year we were the fourth and you were in 8th place! So don't think that you have done soething that we can't! Sirusho did'nt need to make a strptease on the stage to get such a results!
THis year we have won again! We have showed our culture, profi singers with exelent voices and a song and performance done with taste! ofcourse close minded persons couldnt evaluate it, but 10th place in 42 counties is great place! We tought all the europe the armenian culture ! You have showed that you tried to copy Sirusho's entery ""QELE QELE" , with Sirusho's clon! just as always! You steal our ideas! Shut up azeri fanatics! I have an impression that you particpate in esc just make an competition to Armenia, but you are to small for that! :)

Bravo Inga Bravo ANUSH! THank you! YOU were as always unic, profi and wonderful Armenia is prowd with you!

My ""dear"" dont forget your history. Your grandfathers came to caucas from central asia! You didn't have ni culture nor art! everithing you have that is thanks to Armenians, GEorgians and caucas albanians ! you have stealed our children to become europoids, as if you didn't you would look like KAZAKHS, TURKMENS or kirgizs!
Go to Roma, Coliseum and look at the map of ancient world and you will not find anithing about your country! You will find only Armenia and ALbania! I Ofcorse you will say that Albanians were azeris :) but you won't be able to explain how as
1. Albanians were christians,
2. Albanians were speaking indoeuropean languages, but your language is turcic language! So shut up!

We didn't ocupied your country, we have just liberated it!

CIRTDAN DIVYIXAN

You say that there are a lot of armenian names which have turcic origins, in that case can you explain me --- why your lastnames ens with ov and ev like - Ali-ev, Hasan-ov.....? You are slavons???? :) Armenians had to change their last names because for a long time we lived in otoman bloody empire, and we had to do that not to be too discriminated! Like you did it during the years of soviet union!

I only can tell that 200 years ago there was no such concept as azerbadjan, and some still say, that dolma is azeri's, or musical instruments tar, kamancha, knar are azeri's... It simply is so ridiculous, that I will not be speak about of other deliriumс. The Armenian nation is more than 3000 years old. It seems to me enough that create OUR national, and "not steal" from KIDS.
