"EBU desicion not clear"
Georgia withdraws from Eurovision Song Contest 2009
Georgia has decided to pull out of the Moscow Eurovision Song Contest after the contest organiser, the European Broadcasting Union, offered Georgia to either re-write its song lyrics or to submit another song. "We will not go to Moscow and will not take part in Eurovision 2009," said Natia Uznadze, a producer of Georgian public television, who is responsible for Georgia's Eurovision entry.
The EBU had said that the song We don't wanna put in violates the rules of the contest, which read: “The lyrics and/or performance of the songs shall not bring the Shows or the Eurovision Song Contest as such into disrepute. No lyrics, speeches, gestures of a political or similar nature shall be permitted during the Eurovision Song Contest.”
"It's still not clear to us why Eurovision took this decision. We have not received a concrete explanation," Uznadze said. The song titled We don't wanna put in, performed by the group Stephane and 3G with its alleged play on the prime minister's surname, was rejected by the Eurovision organisers on Tuesday for the event to be held in May, which Russia is hosting.

I am Sick with how Russia controls everything....
they still in the dream that they are a super power like USA and just wont give in.
georgia's song is a direct stolen, music."DISCO INFERNO"The Tramps.it's a rip off of the bassline and melody.so it should not be in contest anyway.
I completely agree with you Jim, 100%, and a song with such dubious music shouldn't have been allowed in anyway. The Trammps should sue their asses! Changing one note of their music is still plagiarism!
Good riddance I say. Georgia as a country is lovely I'm sure, but this is not the arena to be slagging off Russia, i.e. when you are an invited guest to the country.
That is what this song blatantly is, and the don't wanna change the lyrics because the song as it stands says 100% what they want it to say.
Their loss I say; just one more country from the Eastern Bloc not to give another 12 points to its neighbours....
SHAME ON YOU EBU!!!!
SHAME ON YOU RUSSIA!!!

Does anyone know if tickets for ESC are going to be released soon?
This is becoming a Russian joke - and i thought they didn't have a sense of humour.
Lina is back again ... I am also convinced that Georgia will be in Eurovision. I kept on saying since Autumn that the best protest against Russia would be to go and show in Moscow ! Which is too bad cause the song really stinks !
Wow eurovision is gonna be a huge dissapointment this year with one of the best songs withdrawing. But seriously all they have to do is tweak the lyrics a little bit, for example. 'We don't want to put you in a negative mood' ' we will try and shoot you with this disco tonight' It's only a minor adjustment that would make it acceptable. But even with this we would still know what they mean.
As much as I am sympathetic to the Georgians with regards to the 2008 war, it's probably for the best that they have withdrawn from Eurovision 2009. Under other circumstances the song would probably not have qualified for the final (it's not exactly great) and would have only qualified this year due to the press coverage it has received in other countries (it even made the news in the UK, which is very rare for a Eurovision song). I can't help but feel Georgia's 2008 Entry, 'Peace Will Come', would have been more at home in this year's competition, and could have possibly won given the circumstances...
I've read in another website that the producer of the Georgian entry told to press that they haven't withdrawn and they are pending on EBU communicates them which parts of the lyrics are unacceptable for ESC.
I can't stand that they are trying to think we're so stupid!!!
this is so sad.
they had great song.
they shouldnt insist of keeping the "we dont wanna Put in..." line.
with a small change like "we let the music move in..." (for example) they could stay in the contest and get into the final. the song for it self is good enough and realy groovy.
I think the EBU should find a country to take Georgia place in semi final to keep it 19 in each and if it doesnt will the draws need to be done again ?
Hopefully Monaco returns I would like to see them again.
In any case nobody can sing about politics on the contest... it's the same we don't wanna Northern Korea... People, stop fighting.... Georgia and Russia shouldn't insult each other, all the more on Contest... And Putin is better then Saakashvilly, because he didn't eat his tie=)

Respect Georgia.....................
i am %100 sure about that russian government and (soft)mafia's pressure on EBU made that decision... so we mustn't think about some scenarios in a fair situation... it's so sad for both georgia and russia.. they lost together
EBU couldn't proove in 2007 that "Push The Button" was against any specific person. Even Tipex wouldn't admit anywhere before or after that is was (probably/presumably) against the Iranian president. There may have been speculation, but there was no solid proof, so they couldn't ban the song. I promise you that if the group would've even been heard whispering it to one another, Israel and the song would've been banned. Believe me Ahmadinijad is one guy we really don't wanna make angry je je je
It's a pity that politics and this contest inevitably mix (They already do in the voting process... if you ever wondered why Armenia and Azerbaijan being neighbours did not vote for each other last year... just a fresh example) It's a pity that a country with such a rich and long musical tradition as Georgia decides to withdraw instead of changing their song or lyrics. Even though I do sympathize with Georgia in general, I believe this attitude is very immature... They should give the chance to another artist at least!
We don't wanna put in is going to be an Eurovision mythical song, that's for sure.
