New CD released

France : Marie Myriam sings Christmas carols

As previously announced, Marie Myriam, Frances last Eurovision Song Contest winner to date, has just released a Christmas CD album, Tous les anges chantent (All angels are singing). Thirteen songs have been recorded in Hungary, with the Budapest symphonic orchestra.

Most of the tracks are well-known Christmas tunes. They include French adaptations of Winter wonderland, The Christmas song, White Christmas and Sleigh ride. Lyrics of some others have been written for the occasion by Marie herself together with her husband and producer Michel Elmos: John Lennon’s War is over and Holy night. There is also a song performed in Portuguese, Ave Maria no morro, composed by Brazilian musician Herivelto Martins. Last but not least, Marie dedicated a track to her daughter Laureen - a version of Paul McCartney’s Wonderful Christmas time, on which Marie only sings as a chorist together with two choirs. The songs on the new album will be performed during concerts in four churches around the country.

Marie Myriam won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1977 with the song L'oiseau et l'enfant. She is France's last winner to date.
