Maria at #17
Norway: Hold on, be strong to be released in Sweden
Hold on be strong is currently at #17 in the Swedish singles' chart, with Sebastien Tellier being the only Eurovision entry ahead of her at #15. It has now been confirmed to esctoday.com that because of Maria's chart success, her album will be released in Sweden by Universal Music.
The release date has not been set yet, but it is higly likely that it will be before Maria's performance at Allsång På Skansen on 8th July.

Today Maria advanced to 8th place in the Swedish charts. Congrats to Maria
Mina, poor Maria!!
(joke)
Hmmm I haven't seen BURR lately...maybe he eloped with Maria after all
a very nie song, maybe the best of the ESC 2008. It is a rlief that it got to the top5 without any gimmicks and any naked flesh..a great achievement then!!
Maria also supported strongly this year my trust in Norwegian entries. Well done Norway!
Well done Maria - just bought the CD single yesterday in Stockholm. Nice to see at least some REAL recordreleases this time when people in general go for free downloads...........
I don't find the Norwegian entry a very special song, but I consider it was the way Maria performed it what made Norway 5th this year, so I'm happy about her exit.
gooo Maria
you´re great
Mina:
...true, true, true!
''And the UK got only 5475 televotes (one of them is mine)''
Stockholm, you can pick winners, I see
(I'm just joking
)
lol. Anyway, you beat Romania and Germany
And the UK got only 5475 televotes (one of them is mine)
hehe lol I suppose we should laugh, we deserved more but what can you do!?! Thankyou for voting for the UK!!
Whoah thats alot!!
She deserved it though!!
I just found out that Maria got 90749 televotes from Sweden (out of 516207 votes).
Anyway, don't worry Mina, its just harmless joking!
If Burr ever does get the chance to ask Maria to marry him, I wish him all the best of luck!
lol
Just to make up for all the times he's been mean to me!!
BURR,
I'm sure Maria will be thrilled with your proposal
Jonny, you're so mean
Or she could be deeply offended . . . . lol!
Maria I love you!!
Will you marry me?
london calling
Good point
@ Jonny K
our diaspora tends to be middle aged and elderly, people retiring to the sun for their 'twilight years'... so they aren't fans of pop/Eurovision. And if they do watch it it wont be on local TV but on the BBC...where they won't be given the number to vote for the UK. Very different from the young Bosnians, Kosovans, Turks, Russians etc voting in the West for their 'home countries'. No Western country can beat this system I'm afraid as the next 10 years of voting will show.
* in my last post I meant to say " Britain has a fair sized diaspora in Spain, Malta (obviously!) and Cyprus"
Britain has a fair size diaspora (bigger than people think), in Cyprus, Malta (obviously!) and Cyprus. But because eurovision isn't taken seriously in the UK, they don't vote for the UK in the same amount that a Turk or Armenian would, thus they have less impact on the voting
@ lina baby doll
No one ever talks about a British diaspora because it is so small and has no impact on the voting... we haven't a point from Cyprus for many years ... which proves my point.
unfortunately after the contest, i realised what a beautifull song Norway presented: good and pleasant voice, nice kind of blues music, plain but effective and supportive performance: i think this ne should have made the big surprise and won..unfortunately people went fot the big star..never mind, a 5th place is also ok..My very very very favourite of this year contest after Armenia, that is Bulgria didnot even managed to qualify...
