San Marino: Multinational team behind Eurovision entry

SMRTV, the Sammarinese national broadcaster has revealed the dream team behind Serhat’s Eurovision entry.

The dream team behind San Marino’s entry will include a number of international members in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. The nation, who will be represented by Turkish singer Serhat this coming May, will be working alongside an Italian management team with the record going on to be produced alongside a German label. The truly multinational team will also comprise of a variety of composers and producers from all over Europe. Marco Vannuzzi from 23 Music stated; We all came here together, in reference to this year’s Eurovision theme.

This year’s composer-team behind the Sammarinese entry for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is made up of Turkish composer Olcayto Ahmet Tugsuz and Greek songwriter Nektarios Tyrakis, both of whom having previous Eurovision experience. Olcayto has written and composed 2 former Turkish Eurovision entries; Hani? (1982) and Şarkım sevgi üstüne (1987) whilst Nektarios was also the lyricist behind the 2004 Greek entry, Shake it along with Belarus’ 2005 entry, Love me tonight.

San Marino’s song will be arranged by the French musician Cyril Orcel with future arrangements being made in collaboration with the Belgian-African musician, Guy Waku. The upcoming Sammarinese entry, which is currently being recorded at the Piste Rouge Studios in Brussels, will be recorded in a number of languages. Confirmed languages to date include English, Italian and French.

Writing the Italian lyrics for the entry is Mariella Nava, a respected Italian composer and lyricist who has written songs for a number of international artists over the years including the likes of Andrea Bocelli, Grace Jones and Dionne Warwick.

Stéphane Laporte, who has written French versions of numerous musicals over the years including the Wizard of Oz, Mamma Mia and Grease, will produce the French lyrics of the Sammarinese entry.

San Marino’s entry for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest will be released at the beginning of March. The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 May in Stockholm, Sweden.
