The Belgian Francophone broadcaster RTBF, whose turn it is the fly the Belgian flag at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, has held a press conference today to present the final details of their song selection. The selection will be on radio before Christmas.

As reported last week, the Belgian entry will be sung by The Voice Belgique winner Roberto Bellarosa. The young man with his family roots in Italy will get to sing three songs on a radio show on 16 December 2012, from 10.30 until 13.00 CET.  The selection will happen on Radio Vivacité and the selection will be made by a combination of public and jury votes. The radio channel has an internet stream available for international fans. Six songs will be presented by representatives from the record label Sony to RTBF from next week. The broadcaster selection jury will not know who the submitted songs have been written by, and will select three to go further. Fragments of the songs will be made available on 1 December and the final will then take place on 16 December.

In the press conference it was said Bellarosa had been selected for his special voice, and as he is deemed to have international potential. The singer himself said his favourite Eurovision Song Contest entry ever is Fairytale by Alexander Rybak.
