Poland: TVP receives record number of songs; candidates revealed on 8 February

TVP, the Polish national broadcaster has revealed that it has received a record number of songs in its quest to search for potential Eurovision entries. The broadcaster is set to announce the names of the competing acts at the forthcoming Polish national final-Krajowych Eliminacji Konkursu Piosenki Eurowizja on Thursday 8 February.

Due to the high amount of songs submitted TVP has delayed the announcement of the competing acts in the 2018 Polish national final which is scheduled to be held on Saturday 3 March. The show will be broadcast live on TVP 1 and TVP International.

The submission window for artists and composers to submit their respective entries in order to compete at the 2018 Polish national final opened last December and closed on 01 February. The Polish broadcaster will reveal the names of the competing hopefuls on Thursday 8 February after the special committee evaluates all the submitted entries and makes its deliberation.

Poland in Eurovision

Poland debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with Edyta Gorniak and is yet to win the event. The country achieved its best placing in the competition in 1994 when it placed 2nd with Edyta’s To nie ja.

In 2017 Kasia Mos defended the Polish colours at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv with Flashlight. Despite an extraordinary performance she placed 22nd in the Grand Final.
