Greece: National final participants announced

ERT, the Greek broadcaster have announced that the country will select the next participant in the Eurovision Song Contest by a national final with three participating artists, all three of them young and relatively new in the Greek music scene.

After countless rumours on the internet in recent weeks, esctoday.com can confirm that the three finalists selected by ERT to fight it out for the chance to succeed Sarbel representing the Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest are:

  • Chryspa
  • Kostas Martakis
  • Kalomoira Saranti

A spokesperson for the Greek national broadcaster confirmed to esctoday.com that the show's format would take the same shape as in 2007, and the final is scheduled for February 2008, although it will be earlier in the month than last year. The songs will be officially presented to the press and public in the traditional press conference which will be held in early February.

Chryspa

Chryspa is 22 years old. She released her debut album, Tora, at the age of 18. This was followed by her second album a year later, Mou kanei plaka o theos (God must be joking me) which produced many radio hits. Since then she released 3 more albums, the latest one Kathreftis (Mirror) last October.

Kostas Martakis
Kostas Martakis is 23 years old. He started his career as a model and then took part in Dream Show, a TV reality show where he met his current manager Ilias Psinakis- former long-time manager of Sakis Rouvas. He has released one CD, Anatropi. Lately he represented Greece in the New Wave festival where he placed in a joint 4th position with Francisca from Germany.Kostas' Martakis MySpace

Kalomoira
New York born Kalomoira Saranti, known as Kalomoira in Greece, is 22 years old. She was the winner in the popular talent show Fame Story in 2004. Her debut album, Kalomoira, went gold. Kalomoira is a very familiar face to the Greek audiences as she appeared in Lampsi, one of the longest running local soap operas, before moving on to co-host morning shows. Her next release was Paizeis in 2005, followed by I Kalomoira paei cinema (Kalomoira goes to the movies) where she sang popular all time Greek cinema classics.Kalomoira's official site
