Danish music downloaders received bill

Around 150 Danish music downloaders received a bill from the Anti Pirat Group (APG), an initiative of the Danish music industry. Some received a bill of more than EUR 14,000 for unauthorised downloading with Kazaa and eDonkey.

The APG followed some users on Kazaa for a while. With IP address information, the unique indentification number of a computer which is conected to the internet, they went to court. Because unpermitted downloading of copyrighted is against the law, the internet providers were forced to release information about the downloaders.

Users who pay their bill now will get a 50% reduction. The downloaders who refuse to pay will face a court case.

Eurovision fans usually download the national final entries of every country with software like Kazaa, WinMX or Audiogalaxy (which recently closed). Most broadcasters, artists and record companies encourage downloading of Eurovision songs to enlarge the chance to win.
