Estonian Television (ETV) will decide in the following weeks whether they let composers from other countries take part in the Estonian national pre-selection, Eurolaul. The step will most likely to be taken in order to create a better condition for a local composers to make it for the Eurovision Song Contest.

ETV's Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs Juhan Paadam assured in Estonian newspaper Eesti Päevaleht that, “it is not a operation of punishment“. “The motive of ETV is that Estonian music has as many chances as possible to be selected for Eurovision,” Paadam said.

He also added that the whole subject is still a delicate issue, which is in the status of an idea.

The decision will be made by the commission of Eurovision in ETV in the following weeks and it has to be confirmed by the board of ETV.

European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is allowing the member countries to make their own decisions in this matter.
