Belgian Eurosongs conquer German charts

Heyah Mama (Eurosong 1999) and El Mundo Bailando (Eurosong 2006), two songs which failed to win the Belgian Eurovision Song Contest selections but nevertheless became huge hits in Flanders and the Netherlands, are about to hit the charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Last week, Studio 100 released Wir 3, a German copy of the successful Flemish girl band K3, on the German market. Just like K3, Wir 3 is composed of three girls with blonde, black and red hair respectively. The first singlefrom Wir 3 is Heyah Mama, the Eurosong 1999 entry by K3. Back in 1999, the girls were slaughtered by the professional jury, but nevertheless the song saw for the breakthrough of K3 in Belgium and the Netherlands. No stand-in, but Belle Perez herself is ready to conquer the German market as well. On 15th June, her Eurosong 2006 entry will be released across the border. El Mundo Bailando was one of the hot favourites to win the Belgian national final last year, but finished third. The single El Mundo Bailando precedes the release of Belle’s full album Gotitas De Amor later this summer. On 21st June, you can see Belle Perez in Das ZDF Sommerhitfestival on ZDF.
