BBC wants something else

The British broadcaster BBC announced changes in the regular Eurovision landscape. Together with the British Academy of Songwriters, the BBC is now searching for a song that is not typically a Eurovision song. Participants can send in their songs until October 18.

“There's no set formula that works and no particular Eurovision sound anymore. Just write a good, commercial three minute song, because quality will always out. 3 minutes is all you will have to win over the viewers of Europe so write something that work instantly rather than be a slow burner”, the announcement stated.

Following the disqualification of Zee with the song 'Never in a million years' in 2002, the BBC says explicit that a song must not be brought out before. Composers and lyricists must be UK citizens or have been living in the country for 3 years by the time of the competition. The entry fee is 110, although songwriters under 17 can enter for less than 20.
