Baltanas shared his thoughts and spoke about his passion for the Eurovision Song Contest in an exclusive interview to esctoday Spanish editor Sanjay Jiandani. Baltanas will be performing along with Mercedes Sayas as a duo at the 4th Gala of Mision Eurovision.
Baltanas made his debut at the 1st Gala of Mision Eurovision where he sang Luis Miguel's ' Te Necesito'. His participation in the Spanish selection for Eurovision has surely made him very popular both in Spain and Europe.



When did you start singing and when did your musical career kick off?
“I started singing when I was a kid when I started performing at school functions. Then at 18 my professional career kicked off when I began participating at contests. I went for auditions and took part in local celebration events. Currently I am working on recording demos and choruses.”

Baltanas is your artistic name right? Where did you get it from? What's your real name?
“Baltanas is the name of my grandfather and I chose it for my artistic name due to the fact that it has oriental roots and I've always been fascinated by ancient cultures and ethnic music. In my home town Cordoba which has a lot of Moorish heritage oriental and Arabic music is frequently played at markets and fairs. I love all what has to do with oriental and arabic influenced music and culture. My real name is Antonio Francisco.”

How has your experience in Mision Eurovision been so far?
“Very enriching and exciting indeed. I have really had a good time,its been a wonderful experience. I wasn't expecting to be selected among the candidates, as I thought there would famous artists chosen to compete in the preselection”

What has it meant for you to participate in the Spanish Eurovision selection?
“Well I've always considered myself as a Eurovision fan. I have been watching the national Eurovision preselections across Europe since many years . I really enjoy watching them and following the events. When I stepped on the stage of Mision Eurovision for the very 1st time, it was like living a fantasy. A dream come true indeed! Its the best thing that has ever happened to me proffesionally speaking.”
