Eurovision 2014: Belarus confirms participation

BTRC, the national Belarusian broadcaster has confirmed to esctoday.com that Belarus will participate at the forthcoming  2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen next May. 

Last July Esctoday reported that Belarus would most likely compete at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, now we can confirm that Belarus will indeed participate next year!

Esctoday has learned that Belarus will most likely opt for a national selection in order to select their 2014 Eurovision entry and representative. The  format and mechanism BTRC will use in order to select their Eurovision entry is yet to be determined. More details and information regarding Belarus and the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest will be disclosed in due course.

Belarus debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and is yet to win the event. The country’s best result in the contest was in 2007 with Koldun‘s Work your magic, when Belarus placed 6th.

Alyona Lanskaya represented Belarus at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with Solayoh achieving a 16th place in the grand final.

Sweden, DenmarkFinland, Norway, FranceAlbania, Iceland, Ireland, San Marino, Georgia, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Estonia, Malta, Russia, Germany, AustriaFYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Belgium, Spain ,United Kingdom and Latvia, Lithuania ,Belarus have all confirmed their participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest next year in Denmark. Whilst Italy, Ukraine, Moldova, Hungary and Slovenia have said they will most likely be in the competition.
