Basshunter for Melodifestivalen?

The well-known Swedish performer Basshunter alias Jonas Altberg could be one of the wildcards in next years Melodifestival. He is the voice and producer behind the swedish megahit Boten Anna which has stormed the Scandinavian music charts this summer and is rising in Belgium, Romania, Poland and Bulgaria. Last friday he was awarded the prize for best newcomer 2006 at The Swedish Music Publisher Associations Awards 2006 which was held at Opera Terrassen in Stockholm. Jonas says to Aftonbladet that this was the only prize he deserved.

When asked about Melodifestivalen Jonas said that it still is a bit secret and to early to give a final decision. He also said he has a couple of songs that would be suitable for the contest in 2007. He tells that he has a song where the lyrics is about another world to where Jonas has escaped all his life, the world of internet and computers.

Jonas also said that he is very interested in taking part in Melodifestivalen and adds that it would be the greatest thing he has done so far. Christer Björkman was in the audience as well and said that all the artist that was given awards tonight are possible wildcards for Melodifestivalen.

Basshunter's summer smash, Boten Anna is running away with the online poll in the Eurodanceweb competition. The competition sees 40 dance hits from European countries compete to win the title of 'Best European Dance Song' of 2006. The song is selected by a group of DJs, music managers and record industry experts, but there will be a prize for the online vote winner too.
