Charlotte Perrelli and Robin Stjernberg inaugurate Eurovision village

Today Saturday 11 May saw the opening of the Eurovision Village in Malmö. The sponsor village is situated in one of Malmö’s many squares, Gustav Adolf’s torg.

First artist to take to the covered outdoor stage was the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest winner Charlotte Perrelli. She sang her winning entry Take me to your heaven as well as the song with which she returned to the Eurovision Song Contest with in 2008, Hero.

Then the hundreds of Malmöites present were treated to a performance from three Nordic representatives to the Eurovision Song Contest 2013.

Eythor Ingi from Iceland song Eg a lif, Margaret Berger from Norway sang her Feed you my love, before the home entry from Sweden took to the stage welcomed by a raucous applause.


Robin Stjernberg, who speaks in the distinctive local Skåne accent performed the Swedish entry You. See a photo gallery of Robin on the website of the local newspaper Sydsvenskan.

The Eurovision Village is open daily from noon and there is also a possibility to view the Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals and the final on big screens here.
