Luminita Anghel, who achieved Romania's best ever Eurovision Song Contest placing of third in the 2005 contest, was approached by Swedish TV with the offer of a participation in Melodifestivalen 2006, it has been revealed.

Having achieved such success for her home country, however, Luminita was not interested in turning her back on her homeland. “I can't betray Romania”, she explains. Instead, she has opted to return to the contest in an entirely different capacity.

The singer will co-present the 2006 Romanian national final alongside Catalin Maruta. Two evenings of semifinals are scheduled to take place on 24th and 25th February, leading up to the grand final on 26th February.

Thanks to Luminita's efforts in Kyiv, the winner of the Romanian final will proceed directly to the international final in Athens.
