Unfortunate news from Romania. The group Rockids has been disqualified from the national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. TVR announced that moments ago. Bubu, lead singer of the group, already represented Romania at the contest in 2003, which is against the rules of the contest.

The official EBU rules of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest say that the children taking part must never have performed a solo, lead role or supporting role on a professionally produced CD or been professionally represented in any before the national selection.

As former Romanian representant, Bubu has on the one hand been professionally represented in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and on the other hand, he has performed a solo role on a professionally produced CD, namely the compilation CD of the 2003 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which makes it impossible to participate according to TVR.

“We hope the Romanian national selection will continue with 16 participants now”, a TVR spokesperson said.

Bubu finished 10th in the Junior Eurovision Song 2003 representing Romania with the song Tobele sunt viata mea.

Rules
Earlier today, eurosong.be quoted song contest supervisor Svante Stockselius, who said that the rules of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will not be published. “It contains too many technical details”, he said. The European Broadcasting Union considers to release a short version of the rules, to publish online.
