TRT denied all rumours about its 2006 national Eurovision Song Contest selection. Earlier today, several sources claimed to know that the Turkish public broadcaster will select its 2006 participant internally again, a name was said to be “chosen in August”. “Not correct”, according to TRT!

Nothing decided
Through TRT spokesperson Berna Batmaz, Head of Music Suleyman Erguner said to esctoday.com that no selection procedure has been determined yet, confirming that previous rumours about an internal selection are incorrect.

Internal selections
In 2003 and 2004, TRT selected Sertab Erener and the band Athena internally, both successful entries. In 2005, the Turkish broadcaster selected Gulseren in a national selection, but Rimi rimi ley didn't manage to qualify Turkey for the 2006 final.
