The first heat of Melodifestivalen 2013 that took place in Karlskrona was just concluded. The hosting country of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest kicked off its annual  national selection.

Although the organisers of one of the most popular national selections in Europe had prepared a quick, well produced show, there were a series of techical problems -during the recap of the songs and the announcement of the first 5 qualifiers- that we are not used to in Melodifestivalen.

Out of the eight competing acts two were qualified for the final in Stockholm whereas another two will have a ‘second chance’ on March 2nd.

Qualifiers for the grand final on March 9th in Stockholm:

• YOHIO – Heartbreak Hotel

Qualifiers for the Andra Chansen on March 2nd:

• Cookies N Beans – Burning Flags
• Eric Gadd – Vi kommer aldrig att förlora
