Frances Ruffelle is to star in the musical play Piaf.

Ruffelle will play Edith Piaf in the show at the Leicester Curve Theatre from 22 February until 16 March. The play charts the life and career of the French singer and contains many of her well-known songs.

In 1994, Ruffelle represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin. Her song, Lonely symphony, finished in tenth position. She has said since that she thinks Lonely symphony is the greatest Eurovision song ever written.

Frances Ruffelle created the role of Eponine in the original London production of the musical, Les Misérables, in 1985. She can currently be seen in the big-screen version where she makes a cameo appearance as a prostitute.
