In Russia the two main national broadcasters have been alternating the Eurovision Song Contest participation in the past years. While this year the organisation was with Rossiya 1, in 2013 the responsibility for the song contest is again with Channel One Russia.

The channel has not announced yet how they are going to select their entry for Malmö, but willing songwriters are already invited to submit their material via the Channel One website using a special online form.

There is also a promotional video on the website about the song submissions:

Russia participated for the first time in 1994 and has taken part at the Eurovision Song Contest in total 16 times, and once in the pre-qualifying round in 1996, but failed to qualify for the final. Since the year 2000 Russia has been in the final every year, and taken silver twice and bronze twice as well. Russia won Eurovision gold in 2008 and the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest was held in Moscow.
