RTBF, the French speaking Belgian national broadcaster has informed Esctoday.com that the 2013 Belgian Song Selection will be held on 16 December, in order to select the 2013 Belgian entry. Thus Belgium becomes the 6th country to hold a national final in December, following the footsteps of Lithuania, Switzerland, Belarus, Albania and Ukraine.
Last Friday RTBF announced that Roberto Bellarosa had been selected to fly the Belgian flag at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. A press conference will be held tomorrow where RTBF will disclose the rules and regulations, along with the mechanism it will use to select the 2013 Belgian entry.
The 2013 Eurovision Belgian entry will be selected in a televised show on RTBF via a public voting deliberation on 16 December. Roberto Bellarosa won the first season of The Voice Belgique. He comes from a family of footballers and has been studying music since the age of 9 at the Huy Conservatory. He entered the first season of the Belgian French version of the talent show The Voice at 17 years old, and won after 16 weeks with 57% of the public votes in the final. Roberto has released his first album recently.
Belgium debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and was one of the founder members of the contest, having won the event in 1986 with Sandra Kim’s J’aime la vie.
