Saturday, when the first Lithuanian semifinal took place, could be seen as the kick-off of the 2004 national finals season. The hosts of Eurovizijos dainų konkursas 2004 were Vedėjai Aurimas Dautartas and Darius U�kuraitis.

Out of 70 entries, broadcaster LT selected 54 (!) songs for six semifinals, of which the first will take place tonight. The 18 songs – three per semifinal – with the highest scores in the qualifying rounds will participate in the national selection final that will take place in Kaunas on 14th February 2004. The song that will represent Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 will be selected by 50% of public vote and 50% of the commission formed by LT.
