During a meeting held on 9th December for the songwriters and performers of Malta Song For Europe 2004, it was announced that the second elimination round will be held on the Thursday 18th December, instead of Friday 19th as previously announced.

It was also announced that a date for the Maltese final seems to be set for Valentine's Day: Saturday 14th February 2004. On Friday 13th February, the 16 songs will be performed for the first time. No voting will be held. On Saturday 14th February, all songs will be performed once again. This will be followed by the interval-act, and soon afterwards, the voting starts and winner will be declared. Hosts and venue are still unknown.

The exact combination of percentages between televoting and judges for the final night is still unknown. Televoting was on top of the agenda. Many expressed themselves in favour of the 80 percent judges, 20 percent televoting (televoting to count as 1 member of the jury only). Participants were also eager that the Maltasong Committee should implement the EBU rule of no more than 3 televotes per household for Malta Song for Europe 2004.
