The tradition continues! Once again, the Czech act for Eurovision is going to perform at the Ukrainian national selection event! Earlier today, Ukraine’s broadcaster UA:PBC announced that Vidbir’s second semi-final will be featured by the guest appearance of the 3-member band Lake Malawi.

The winners of the Czech national selection process ESCZ are going to perform their Eurovision entry Friend of a friend, which was declared as the Czech entry for Eurovision 2019 on 28 January. Last year, the Czech hopeful Mikolas Josef did so, presenting his successful Eurovision hit Lie to me.

The second semi-final of Vidbir will see the participation of 8 entries, all claiming a spot at the Grand Final on 23 February, where Ukraine’s representative in Tel Aviv will be determined.

Czech Republic at Eurovision 2019

Following the national selection procedure for the second time in a row, namely Eurovision Song CZ, the country of central Europe decided to send the band Lake Malawi in order to defend their colours on the stage in Tel Aviv, with their song Friend of a friend. Last year, the Czech Republic achieved their best ever result at the contest, as Mikolas Josef ended up 6th on the scoreboard, with a total of 281 points.

Moreover, Czech Republic became the very first country to confirm its participation at next year’s Eurovision, as well as the conduct of a televised national final, which is set for 25 January 2020.
