Would you like to be a part of Germany’s entry selection process for the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest? NDR, the country’s national broadcaster, has today opened applications for the public to apply as a member of their preliminary selection jury!

2018 was a successful year for Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest, which saw the country’s most successful results in recent years with Michael Schulte, competing in Lisbon with his entry You let me walk alone. 340 points later and Germany finished in 4th place at the 2018 final, with the country now looking to improve on this year’s results!

Eurovision panel returns for 2019

Part of Germany’s selection process for 2018 included the introduction of the Eurovision panel, in which a total of 100 members were recruited through an online survey to have their say on who they believe should both compete in the country’s national final, as well as eventually represent Germany in Lisbon.

Due to its success this year, NDR – the German national broadcaster – has decided to bring back the Eurovision panel for 2019, with the broadcaster looking for another 100 members to feature in the next panel for the selection.

NDR wants their panel to represent the international taste of Eurovision music, with members to be selected through another online survey hosted by Simon-Kucher & Partners. As with 2018, all members will be decided through a multi-level selection process.

The 100 member panel will, once again, vote from a pre-selection process on which candidates should compete in the national final, as well as have their say in the preliminary round of the final vote.

As well as the Eurovision panel, an expert international jury and television viewers will also have their say on the final outcome of the German national final.

ARD’s Entertainment Coordinator, Thomas Schreiber, spoke about the upcoming Eurovision panel:

Who dares to take on the responsibility? Who wants to decide which candidates should take part in the German preliminary round? Who thinks they can find the song with the biggest chances for the Eurovision Song Contest?

We look forward to finding the people who reflect the taste of the European television viewers and join us on the Eurovision trip for 2019.

To apply to be a part of the German Eurovision panel for 2019, fill in the official online survey via the official Simon-Kucher & Partners website.
