Switzerland’s 2016 representative Rykka has released her latest single Youth is wasted. Therefore, the latest album of the Swiss-Canadian singer is complete.

Youth is wasted is the title of the last song of Rykka. The singer published the music video today, the latest from her album Beatitudes, which was first released on 4 November 2016. As for the rest of the album, the new electro-pop title was produced in Toronto, Canada.

Beatitudes is the latest album of Rykka, published after her participation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm. She represented Switzerland, her second home, with the song The last of our kind, ranking last in the second semi-final.

Despite of the numeric result, she remains in the recent history of the Eurovision for her particular moves on stage.

Switzerland in Eurovision

The central European country has been one of the founding members of the EBU and is the country that hosted the first Eurovision ever in 1956.

Switzerland had the honour of winning the contest’s 1st edition with Lys Assia and Refrain. 32 years later, the Swiss people enjoyed their second victory in 1988, which was achieved by the world famous Céline Dion singing Ne partez pas sans moi.

However, the country has had relatively poor results over the last two decades. Switzerland has missed 9 finals since the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004 and has reached the Top 10 only once, in 2005.

In 2017, the three-member band Timebelle represented Switzerland with a pop-genre song Apollo. The band came 12th in the second semi-final, thus did not qualify to the final.
