Sweden: Who will host Melodifestivalen 2018? SVT press conference today

SVT, the Swedish national broadcaster will be holding a press conference today at their headquarters in Stockholm in order to officially reveal the 2018 Melodifestivalen hosts.

Sweden is gearing up for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest and preparations for Melodifestivalen 2018 are in full swing.  The Swedish broadcaster will be disclosing the names of the 2018 Melodifestivalen host/hosts on Thursday 2 November at the SVT headquarters in Stockholm during a press conference, which is scheduled to be held at 11:00 CET. The press conference will be 90 minutes long. The press conference will be streamed live on SVT PLAY.

Ticket sales for Melodifestivalen 2018 kicked off  few days back. The Swedish broadcaster has received 2,771 entries for its 2018 Eurovision national selection. SVT will be disclosing the names of the lucky MF 2018 candidates in due course.

The Swedes will select their Eurovision act and entry for Lisbon on Saturday 10 March, 2018.

Sweden in Eurovision

Sweden is one of the most successful countries in the Eurovision Song Contest and has won the competition 6 times:  1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2013 and 2015. The Nordic country has hosted the competition 6 times too: Stockholm (1975, 2000, 2016), Malmo (1992, 2013) and Gothenborg (1985).

The Scandinavian nation has achieved 6 Top 5 finishes in the Eurovision Song Contest in the last decade, including 2 victories in 2013 and 2015.

In 2017, Robin Bengtsson flew to Kyiv with his Eurovision entry I can’t go on, achieving an honorable 5th place in the Grand Final.
