Yesterday Polish national broadcaster for the very first time emitted a new Polish version of Beethoven's Ode To Joy, performed by many great Polish musicians, including some Eurovision representatives.

This great project is a special way to celebrate Polish entrance to European Union. Many Polish stars took part and played a role, some of them are connected with Eurovision Song Contest:

Ode To Joy, including some parts of Polish national anthem, Chopin's and folk elements, is arranged by Mateusz Pospieszalski, composer of Polish 1995 entry Sama. The lyrics of the new version are written by Jacek Cygan, lyricist of Polish debuting and most succesful entry: To nie ja (performed by Edyta Górniak in Dublin in 1994). First line is sung by Mietek Szcześniak, Polish representative in Jerusalem 1999. Justyna Steczkowska, who sings third line, represented Poland in 1995. Through the song Staś Drzewiecki, winner of Eurovision Song Contest for Young Musicians, plays piano.

You can download a video of the song from TVP site by choosing link Zobacz wideo – Oda do radości. Polish Television is a sponsor and main producer of the song.

Let's hope Poland together with other 9 candidates will join European Union next year.
