One of the songs that was to compete at the 2010 Melodifestivalen, t helvete för sent, has been disqualified by the public broadcaster of Sweden, SVT, because the decision on the artist to perform it was being obstructed by the team responsible for the song. The entry to replace it will be announced at a later date.

The broadcaster claims that the Melodifestivalen rules are clear on this matter. Thomas Hall, project manager for the 2010 Melodifestivalen, states that "the situation is extremely unfortunate, but our decision is logically simple. Melodifestivalen rules are indisputable: it is part of the competition that participants must agree that SVT has the final say on the choice of the artist".

These facts have led SVT to pull the entry out of the competition, although Thomas Hall has declared that "we are happy to discuss the application of the rule case by case, but we will not compromise with it, we take the final decision – either now or in the future".

Åt helvete för sent (click here to listen) has been composed by Lina Eriksson, Mårten Eriksson and Susie Päivärinta. The song to replace it will be announced at a later date by the Swedish broadcaster.
