Sweden: Se på mej high in Norway!

Swedish singer Jan Johansen is back with a CD entitled Minnen (memories)… which is published by Universal Norway and gives the opportunity to see Se pÃ¥ mej- the 1995 Swedish Eurovision entry – at place 7 in the VG Top 20 in its second week.

The CD album itself is number 11 of the VG Top 40 album chart. Even if it seems that Minnen has not yet been released in Sweden, the track list is made of Swedish-language material only, in spite of the fact that Johansen has already recorded 4 English language albums in the past.

Apart from Se på mej, Minnen includes the 2001 Melodifestivalen entry Ingenmannsland, the song performed the year after at the Swedish selection Sista andetaget, but not Let Your Spirit Fly, performed together with Pernilla Wahlgren, which placed second in the 2003 Melodifestivalen.

Here's the teaser that can be seen on Norwegian TV:

The ad gives information that two of the 15 songs are duets with Norwegian singers. Johansen sings Kommer tid, kommer vår with Elisabeth Andreassen (the song was originally a duet with Jill Johnson) and he also sings Ett sår i min själ with Maria Arredondo, a promising Norwegian singer. This song was originally in English on Jan's first album, titled Hurting so bad. The two of them actually gave a public performance of their duet at the Allsang på grensen festival, in the beginning of August. See video here:

Strangely, while Se på mej is being played on radio, a video was made for the song Fri, the opening track of the album:

The album Minnen includes 7 new tracks in addition to Jan's greatest hits. The motivation for this Norwegian release was that even if Se på mej was frequently played on the radio, the track was not available to buy in Norway. Also, Universal had recently acquired rights to Jan's songs in Norway.

With Se på mej (Look at me), Jan Johansen placed 3rd with 100 points at the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest. Jan Johansen's father is Norwegian-born jazz musician Egil Johansen.
