Malta: National final (MESC 2017) on 18 February

PBS, the Maltese national broadcaster has announced today that the 2017 Maltese Eurovision national final- Malta Eurovision Song Contest will be held on Saturday 18 Febrary.

PBS will be announcing the 16 competing candidates and entries at the 2017 MESC tomorrow during the 8pm News on TVM.

Earlier this month PBS revealed the 65 candiates opting to compete in the 2017 MESC. A 11 member expert jury has whittled the number of candidates/entries to 16.

For the first time, the Maltese national selection will consist of 1 show. The 2017 Maltese Eurovision entry and act will be determined by a 100% televoting deliberation.

Malta debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1971 and is yet to win the event. The beautiful Mediterranean island’s best placing in the contest was achieved in 2002 with Ira Losco and in 2005 with Chiara, when the country placed 2nd.

In 2016 Ira Losco was back in the competition for the 2nd time with her entry Walk on water.

The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on  9, 11 and 13 May at the IEC in Kyiv, Ukraine.
