Ukraine: National selection dates revealed; final on 25 February

NTU, the Ukrainian national broadcaster, has released the dates for the country’s upcoming national selection which will decide Ukraine’s representative for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.

Taking place throughout February 2017, the live shows for the Ukrainian national selection will take place over the course of 4 weeks. The live shows will air live on both NTU and STB from the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

National selection dates

  • 04/02: Semi-final 1
  • 11/02: Semi-final 2
  • 18/02: Semi-final 3
  • 25/02: Grand Final

Tickets are now on sale for each of the national selection live shows via karabas.com; semi-final tickets cost between 180-890 UAH and tickets from the Grand Final are priced between 250-1490 UAH.

National selection process

Currently, submissions are still be accepted for the online selection process of the competition. Members of the public are currently able to vote for their favourite artist up until the 15 January 2017, with the winner moving forward to the semi-final stage.

A further variety of acts will be shortlisted by NTU and STB from the audition stage of the competition, with a total of between 20-40 acts taking part in the selection.

The semi-finals will see each of the audition qualifiers perform their entries live for the first time to the public, who will be judged by the expert panel consisting of members Konstantin Meladze (composer and producer) and Jamala (Eurovision 2016 winner).

Qualifiers from the semi-finals will compete in the Grand Final on the 25 February, where the winner will be decided via a 50/50 jury/public vote.
