TVE, the Spanish national broadcaster has announced today that Spain will be selecting its 2017 Eurovision candidate and entry via a televised national final which will be held next February. TVE has published the rules and regulations for its forthcoming 2017 Eurovision project.

The 2017 Spanish Eurolvision national  final Objectivo Eurovision is scheduled to take place in Madrid in February. This time TVE has opted for a different mechanism to select the candidates who will partake in the national final. Thus it will be a mix between an internal and public online selection. One of the acts will be selected via an open selection and the rest will be selected internally by TVE (established and professional artists).

So if you wanna represent Spain you can submit your entry and application to the Spanish broadcaster from 27 October- 27 November. Hereafter TVE will shortlist 30 entries, which will published on rtve.es and whittled down to 10 via a public online voting. Then TVE’s expert jury will select a total of 3 acts who will battle for the golden ticket to the Spanish 2017 Eurovision national final in a special live show which will be streamed online in January.

TVE will determine the number of acts who will compete in the national final. The 2017 Spanish Eurovision entry and act will be determined by a jury/public televoting deliberation.  More details will be released in due course.

In 2016 Spain opted for a national selection in order to select the Spanish Eurovision entry and act for Stockholm. Barei won the golden ticket to Eurovision 2016 with her entry Say Yay!

Spain debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 and has won the competition twice in 1968 with Massiel and in 1969 with Salome. The country has participated in the competition religiously every year since its debut.

The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 9, 11, and 13 May at the IEC in Kyiv, Ukraine.
