Ever since she posed for the cover of the Romanian Ideal Marriage magazine, Elena Gheorghe has been nicknamed “The Warrior Bride” for her attitude in the photos which remind her stance in her Eurovision video for the Balkan girls.

Elena Gheorghe, the Romanian hope in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, is currently enjoying undivided media attention in her homeland and The Balkan girls is currently the most listened to song in the Nielsen Music Control chart within Romania.

Whereas many Eurostars still struggle to gather the necessary funds for their Eurovision participation, Elena has been offered VIP treatment and is the first ever Romanian entrant to be flown to the contest in a personal Boeing 737-800 Next Generation offered by sponsor Blue Air. Mr.Gheorghe Racaru – General Director of Blue Air feels confident the company's investment will pay off: "Even if Blue Air company does not operate regular flights between Bucharest and Moscow, we are sure that our effort will be repaid in the moment when Elena will fully succeed through her talent and will make millions of viewers from Europe, talk about her and Romania",he told Romanian press.

Elena Gheorghe competes fourtheenth in the second semi final of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
