Greece: This is our night enters Lithuanian charts

This is our night, the song with which Greece will be represented in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest has entered the Lithuanian charts, something which rarely happens in the country, at least before the contest itself.

Sakis Rouvas with This is our night entered the M1 Top 40 chart this week in Lithuania at #38. For lack of an official charts system in Lithuania, the M1 charts are looked upon as an important indicator of a song's popularity in the country. Once a song is given air play it gets to be voted by the listeners and thus enters the charts. (here)

It is very rare for a foreign Eurovision Song Contest entry to make it in the Lithuanian charts, especially before the contest. Last year, the winner song, Believe by Dima Bilan andSwedish Hero by Charlotte Perrelli also entered the chartsat the beginning of Mayand Ani Lorak's Ukrainian Shady lady only after.

Other Eurovision Song Contest related songs in the same chart this week are the Lithuanian 2009 entry Pasiklydes Zmogus by Sasha Son at #4, dropping one spot from last week, 69 Danguje Meiles Simfonija which competed against Sasha in the country's final and surprisingly enough we see Emilia and You're my world from the Melodifestivalen final at #39.

Sakis Rouvas is currently in Romania where he appeared in various TV shows. On the Access direct show on Antenna TV today, he met with this year's Romanian contestant Elena Gheorghe who also performed her entry Balkan girls

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
