Eurovision 2016: Start your engines and may the best song win!

Eurovision will be aired live in the USA for the first time through the frequencies of Logo TV, home of world’s famous drag queen, RuPaul. 

In the words of Rupaul, Start your engines and may the best woman win, the Eurovision 2016 rehearsals kicked off today and a surprising announcement by the EBU was awaiting. In a quick press release, the EBU revealed today the collaboration with Logo TV, one of the most famous TV networks overseas. For the first time in Eurovision history, the contest will be broadcast live after the grant of permission given to the TV network.

For the first time in America’s history, Logo will be the exclusive home of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. The 61st annual Grand Final will air live on Saturday, May 14 at 3PM ET with accompanying live streams here on LogoTV.com and the Logo TV app.

Logo TV is the home for the legendary tv show RuPaul’s Drag Race produced and presented by RuPaul herself. During the past seasons, there have been some links with the Eurovision Song Contest. On the season 6 finale, there was an introduction video for the Drag world, where Conchita Wurst, the 2014 Eurovision winner was mentioned.

Conchita Wurst has been a good friend with the Aussie drag queen, Courtney Act (which was the first artist in Australia to openly requesting from SBS to pick her for Eurovision).

Also, during season 7, Rupaul’s Drag Race paid tribute to all the bearded queens of the drag history, Conchita Wurst including.
