The Belgian entry in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest will be announced on 10th March, shortly before the EBU deadline. The presentation of the song will take place at Mirano Continental in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, Brussels.

Like every second year, the Walloon broadcaster RTBF is responsible for choosing the Belgian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest. Recently, a teaser has appeared on youtube announcing a 'rock 'n' roll' legend to represent the county, which led to speculations that Elvis Presley impersonator Franz Goovaerts would go to Moscow. The song title Copy cat has also been mentioned.

Despite poor results in recent years, RTBF was by far more succesful in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest than the Flemish broadcaster VRT. The only winner and the only two runner-ups were all submitted by the French-speaking broadcaster including Belgium's last top ten entrants Urban Trad in 2003. However, in 2007 the KMG's finished 26th in the semi final not making it to final. In 2009, Belgium will take part in the first semi final on 12th May.
