With Patricia Kaas as the French representative at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, French media interest in the competition has reached levels unseen for many years. One of France's most successful recording artists, she has been talking about her upcoming appearance in the world's most watched non-sporting event.

TV weekly TV Grandes Chaînes has presentlyPatricia Kaason its front page with the following title: Pourquoi je me présente à l’Eurovision (the reasons why I go to Eurovision). Inside, a two pages interview with Ann-Patricia Pitois talks about the Eurovision experience.

First I didn’t want to do it" she declares, "as I think it was made for newcomers, to start a career. Then, I hesitated and thought that it could be good to support my CD and even better to support my country. I used to have an old vision of the Eurovision Song Contest, I loved it when I was young but then I found it old fashioned”.

Patricia doesn’t find the competition as a has-been show. “The contest is presently making a lot of efforts to renew itself. We experienced it last year with the electro-jazz of Sébastien Tellier. Eurovision can be considered as redneck in France, but in many countries, like in Russia, it is a very much awaited moment”.

Regarding the risks she could face, she quietly answers: “What can I lose? Even if it’s not a matter of promoting my CD, I know it will not harm it! After the stress, I’m sure I will proud of having doing it”.

The news about Patricia Kaas representing France at the Eurovision Song Contest has been ranked as the fifth most talked about news topic in France bythe Le Buzz show, on news channel LCI.
