The date of the Greek national final to select the country's 2009 Eurovision Song Contest entry has now been confirmed and will be the 18th of February. The country's chosen representative, Sakis Rouvas, will perform three songs composed by Dimitris Kontopoulos.

Greece was the first country to announce their representative in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 back in August. Three songs have been composed by Dimitris Kontopoulos who has also composed some of Sakis' greatest hits for the Greek public to choose from during a televised national final.

The Greek national final will take place on 18th February at the Athinon Arena and it will be hosted by the Maggira sisters, who hosted last year's final at the same venue and commentated for ERT in Belgrade. The winning song will be decided by a mixture of jury vote and televote. Fokas Evangelinos will be responsible for the artistic direction of the final. The three songs will be presented in a special press conference on the 11th February.
