Sweden: Sonja, Shirley and Sanna released Christmas album

Earlier this month, Sonja Aldén, Shirley Clamp and Sanna Nielsen released their combined Christmas album with many new songs as well as Christmas classics. The first single out from this special album is Another winter night.

The album contains 12 tracks in total, six common songs andtwo solo songs from each of the three artists.

Sonja Aldén, Shirley Clamp and Sanna Nielsen are all three very popular stars in Sweden,known for their exceptional vocal talents and internationally for their numerous participations in Melodifestivalen.

Sonja Aldén started her Melodfestivalen career in 2006 with the up-tempo song Etymon. One year later, she managed to reach the final of Melodifestivalen with the extremely popular and much appreciated ballad För att du finns which had huge chart success and still remains to be her biggest hit to-date.

Shirley Clamp made her first appearance on Melodifestivalen in 2003 with the song Mr. Memory which didn't reach the final. However, in 2004 she made a highly successful comeback on Melodifestivalen reaching 2nd place with Min Kärlek. In 2005, she tried her luck once again with Att älska digwith which she ended up 4th in the final. Shirley is also rumoured to be back in the game in 2009, singing Med hjärtat fyllt av ljus but this has not been confirmed yet.

Sanna Nielsen first participated in Melodifestivalen in 2001 finishing 3rd with Igår, idag. In 2003, she reached 5th place with Hela världen för mig. In 2005, shegot 8th place withDu och jag mot världen, a duet with popular Swedish song writer Fredrik Kempe. In 2007, Sanna managed to get to 7th place with Vågar du, vågar jag. In 2008, Sanna returned once more to the competition, this time with Empty room, a ballad in English. She got very close to finally winning Melodifestvalen and won the public vote convincingly, however, due the jury vote, Sanna lost out to Charlotte Perrelli and her up- tempo song Hero, which went on to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade, finishing 18th in the final, after reaching 12th place in the second semi final but having been the 10th qualifier to the jury vote.
