SBS, the Australian national broadcaster has confirmed that it will be revealing the 2016 Australian Eurovision act on Thursday 3 March.

The 2014 Austrian Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst will have the honour of announcing the name of the lucky artist who will fly the Aussie flag in Stockholm at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest next May.

Conchita herself will unveil Australia’s artist during her one-off concert event with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Conchita: From Vienna with Love, followed by a special performance by the brand new Aussie Eurovision star on the iconic Sydney Opera House stage.

The Conchita: From Vienna with Love concert is presented by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in association with the Austrian National Tourist Office and is an official Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival event.

Australia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 and is yet to win the event. Last year the country was represented by Guy Sebastian, who made his country proud by achieving a 5th place in Vienna with his entry  Tonight again.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 May at the Globe Arena in Stockholm.
