According to the website eurosong.be, it is now “100% sure” that Rita Guerra will be Portugal's participant in the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. This now means that Operacão Triunfo will not be used to selected the Portugese entrant.

Rita Guerra, who finished in second place in the Portugese national final of 1992 with the song Meu amor inventado per mim, is known for being a “marvellous” singer. Her musical style has primarily embraced the genres of jazz music and warm ballads. She has a lot of experience in the world of musicals as well as casino shows in the well known Formel 1 city, Estoril.

Curiously, RTP's official website for the talent show Operacão Triunfo has not yet removed the reference to the Eurovision Song Contest.
