Ukraine: Nationwide auditions to national final in December

The Ukrainian broadcaster NTU along with the country’s leading TV channel STB will collaborate in the quest for finding Ukraine’s next Eurovision Song Contest representative. Auditions will take place in different locations all over the country in order to find the participants of Ukraine’s national final.

“Over the past ten years we have managed to reach many top ten placings, indicating the high level of our representatives. The whole country is interested in our representative for Eurovision 2016 and this time the national selection will be even bigger so every citizen of Ukraine will find it interesting”, says Zurab Alasania, the General Director of NTU.

STB will cover the expenses of the national selection while NTU will take care of the participation in the Eurovision Song Contest.

The auditions will take place in the following dates and places:

  • 5-6/12 – Zaporizhia
  • 5-6/12 – Khrakov
  • 12-13/12 – Odessa
  • 12-13/12 – Lviv
  • 19-20/12 – Dnepropetrovsk
  • 19-20/12 – Kyiv

Artists and bands who wish to apply must have a composition which was not publsihed before 1 September 2015. The full rules can be found on 1tv.com.ua and stb.ua

“STB’s experience of producing popular talent shows among the people of Ukraine will ensure a spectacular national selection that will provide the best representative for Eurovision 2016”, says Vladimir Borodyanka, STB’s CEO.

Ukraine will be returning to the Eurovision Song Contest after a year of absence. In 2014, Mariya Yaremchuk achieved the 6th place for Ukraine with Tick-Tock. Out of 12 participations to date, the country has no less than eight entries that got a place among the top 10, five of them among the top 5.
