The only song in Greek in the Cypriot national final gets the golden ticket to Belgrade. After five consecutive attempts in English and one in French, tonight the Cypriot public decided to send a song in Greek to Belgrade. Evdokia Kadi has won tonight's final and will represent Cyprus in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest.

Ballads and songs in English prevailed in the Cyrpiot final tonight. Evdokia Kadi was the third favourite of the nine member jury but she won the televote by a landslide receiving over two thousand votes more than the second song I can't be by Nikolas Metaxas . Her title may be in French but the song is a typically Greek "laiko" song. Evdokia is an experienced singer who performs in night clubs as well as with the CyBC orchestra.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
